Competitive Analysis

To develop my app, I researched the most commonly used and similar apps in the market, including Headspace, Clarity, How We Feel, I Am, and BetterHelp. While the full analysis is extensive, I’ve summarized my key market findings right below.

Interview Plan

To guide my research, I created a research plan outlining key objectives, target users, and methodologies. I wanted to understand user pain points, motivations, and behaviours related to mental wellness tools. My approach included competitive research, user interviews, and usability testing to ensure I gathered both qualitative and quantitative insights.

Interviews Results

To develop my app, I conducted user interviews to understand pain points, behaviours, and needs. While the full insights are extensive, I’ve summarized the key takeaways here.

Affinity Mapping

After conducting interviews, I affinity mapped the data to uncover recurring themes. This process helped me synthesize key user needs, frustrations, and desires. Some of the main themes included the need for personalized guidance, flexible engagement options, and a sense of progress without overwhelming structure.

After synthesizing my research, I created an affinity map to identify patterns and key themes. While the full mapping process was extensive, I’ve summarized the main findings here.

Findings Summarized

Since I am developing an end-end product, prioritizing features is important so I can develop the MVP flows of Zume. So in this feature set I went ahead and narrowed down my most important features and some nice to haves to develop later if I have more time.

Userflows

To define the core experience, I created user flows to outline the different tasks I wanted users to accomplish within Zume.  Mapping out these flows ensured a seamless and intuitive journey for users. The file is quite large, but if you'd like to see them in depth, please use the button!

I then translated these ideas into low-fidelity wireframes, focusing on layout, navigation, and core functionality. This allowed me to test early concepts and refine the experience before moving into high-fidelity designs.

Branding and UI Library

For Zume’s branding, I focused on creating a visual identity that friendly, casual, empathetic, and chill. To maintain consistency across the app, I developed a UI component library that streamlined design and development. I focused on creating reusable components that aligned with accessibility standards and intuitive interactions.

Typography played a key role in readability and tone. I chose typefaces that were soft yet structured, allowing users to feel both comforted and guided as they navigated the app.
